What to Wear

Outfits that help you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself.

Let’s be real—figuring out what to wear can feel like the hardest part of preparing for your senior session. But here’s the good news: you don’t need a brand-new wardrobe or a trendy Pinterest closet to look amazing. You just need outfits that feel like you.

This section will walk you through everything from choosing flattering colors to knowing what to avoid—and help you show up feeling confident, comfortable, and camera-ready!

Outfit Tips That

Work for Everyone

Wear what makes you feel like YOU. If you feel awkward or uncomfortable in something, it’ll show in the photos. Choose pieces that you love and that reflect your style—whether that’s flowy and feminine, sporty and casual, or bold and trendy.
Think texture, not distraction. Textures like denim, lace, knits, corduroy, and linen add depth without being overwhelming. Avoid super busy patterns, neon colors, or anything with large logos or graphics.
Stick with solid colors or subtle patterns. These photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on you—not your clothes. Neutrals, earth tones, and soft pastels are always a great choice, but rich jewel tones (like emerald, mustard, or rust) can pop beautifully, too.
Consider layering. Jackets, cardigans, and accessories can add variety without needing a full outfit change—and they give you something to do with your hands in photos!

What to Avoid

  • Loud patterns or prints that compete with your face
  • Clothing that’s too tight or too loose (comfort + confidence is key!)
  • Logos, text, or bright neon colors
  • Overthinking it! Keep it simple and true to who you are

Makeup Tips

Whether it’s full glam or fresh-faced, aim for a polished version of your everyday look. You want your photos to feel like you, not someone else.

Avoid heavy powders or super matte finishes. A little glow looks great in photos. Opt for dewy, natural skin and soft, blended colors.

Say yes to mascara and a little brow definition. Even if you normally wear minimal makeup, subtle enhancements help your features stand out on camera.

Lip color matters. A neutral or rosy lip color brings life to your face. Avoid colors that are too bold or too pale unless that’s part of your signature look!

Don’t stress about perfection. Imperfections are part of being human, and your photos will be just as beautiful with them.

Hair Tips

Go with a style that feels like you. If you normally wear your hair down, don’t feel pressured to try a complicated updo. Stick with a style you feel confident in—and if you want to try something new, practice it a few days before your session.

Fresh trims are your friend. A haircut 1–2 weeks before your session helps clean up ends without feeling too “new.”

Bring a brush or comb to your session. Wind and movement can add beauty to your photos—but a quick touch-up in between locations can help keep things polished.

Consider soft waves or curls. Loose texture photographs beautifully and adds dimension without looking too styled.

For the girls, anything that has movement photographs very well! Think long dresses and skirts!
