Styled shoot with Creatives for the Creator | Paradise Loop, Mount Rainier National Park

When I signed up for this styled shoot with Creatives for the Creator, I was excited for one reason — Mount Rainier. The idea of photographing a couple in front of that iconic peak sounded like a dream straight from my bucket list. But in true Pacific Northwest fashion, the mountain had other plans.

Rainier stayed completely hidden behind layers of fog for most of the shoot. At first, it felt a little disappointing, but pretty quickly, that fog became one of my favorite parts of the shoot. It wrapped the landscape in this calm, moody atmosphere that ended up being even more beautiful than a clear view.

The Shoot

Aaron and Marissa Lee were our models for the day, and they were such troopers. We spent a couple of hours hiking along the Paradise Loop, stopping whenever the light hit just right or when a break in the clouds revealed a new view.

Marissa wore a flowy off-the-shoulder lace gown that looked straight out of a fairytale — until you noticed the hiking boots and sweatpants hidden underneath. It was the perfect mix of elegance and practicality, which honestly summed up the whole day. We were there to create something beautiful, but we were also climbing over rocks and walking through mud to get it.

The Experience

Even without the mountain visible, the scenery was unreal — lush meadows, evergreen trees, and little pops of wildflowers everywhere. The fog kept moving in and out, sometimes so thick we could barely see the next bend in the trail, then clearing just enough to let some light peek through.

Some of my favorite photos came from those moments when we just paused — Aaron pulling Marissa close in the quiet, her hair catching the light, or her walking along the trail with her dress brushing the dirt. It all felt so natural and unscripted.

What I Took Away

This day reminded me that you don’t need perfect weather or a dramatic view to tell a meaningful story. Sometimes the best images come when things don’t go exactly as planned. The fog, the hiking boots, the mix of exhaustion and excitement — all of it made the shoot feel real.

If you’re planning an adventurous session or elopement, don’t be afraid of imperfect conditions. The mood and atmosphere that come from those unexpected moments often end up being what makes your photos stand out.
